Cirque - New Farm @ Au Cirque
| Reservation Not Required | Bad with babies | Bad with kids |
| Great for Breakfast | Bad for Business Lunches |
We went to Cirque a couple of times in mid January. Food was above average, Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon was excellent: the smoked salmon wasn't the packaged supermarket kind that you almost always receive - far better. That particular dish (on that day) was superb.
Unfortunately the Eggs Benedict is only available Sat Sun and Mon. I asked why and she said "Because they make it fresh and that's how long it lasts..and..just to be quirky". Interesting. Not smart, but interesting.
My partner wanted some French toast with her (Bacon Eggs Mushrooms etc) breakfast. She didn't want any syrup, fruit, trimmings, just one piece of toast coated with egg. Not hard. Told we have to pay full menu price -$12+, or was it $15? So no French toast to accompany breakfast: unless you want to pay a ridiculous amount. I'm forced to conclude that they don't really want to accommodate their customer's needs (for a reasonable price).
Service was fine the first day I was there, patchy on the second visit. Mix up with coffees, poor communication. Request for 'Mushrooms on the side' ignored. Corrections could have been made in a more jubilant headspace. 'Too cool for school' inflections apparent.
The cafe has a pretty good atmosphere but NY style seating, no privacy inside. Car park out the back makes for a more relaxing journey to and from.
14/20 :-)
